The
Perth Male Voice Choir is always on the look out for new
recruits:
Young or
not so young. A solo quality
voice is not essential but you will need the ability to sing in
tune and be able to learn and retain our
repertoire
for the year (approximately 20 songs) as we sing on stage
without music copies, so some work at home will be necessary.
Just as important is the ability to blend in with others both
musically and socially. We work hard at our music, but are not
elitist. We are friendly and sociable with a wide spread of
backgrounds and nationalities amongst our members.
So
what's involved in singing with the PMVC.
Commitment certainly. You will be expected to
attend weekly rehearsals and perform at concerts and other
engagements in the Perth metro area and occasionally at country
locations, all of which average around 8 - 10 per year.
You will spend a short period with our musical
director and be asked to sing some scales, so that you can be
placed in the appropriate section (1st or 2nd Tenor,
1st or 2nd Bass). New members can attend
rehearsals for 6 weeks free, to allow them to settle in to the
choir routines and to decide if membership is mutually
acceptable.
A practice folder and music are supplied by the
choir. Concert dress is a standard dinner suit with white shirt
which is the member’s responsibility, a bow tie and matching
pocket kerchief is supplied by the choir.
Progression to performing on stage will be
determined by the member’s comfort to perform, in liaison with
the musical director.
To join contact one of the numbers on this site,
or turn up at The Bob Daniel Centre, Cnr Beaufort St and 10th
Avenue, Inglewood, on a Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM.
You will be made welcome and will even be
provided with tea or coffee and a sandwich or biscuits at our
half time rehearsal break. |
